To reach the highest point in the Lake L\u00e9man area, you\u2019ll be taking the train rather than driving. If you\u2019re not planning to take a hike up rocky paths, which is the only other way to reach the Rochers-de-Naye, then you\u2019re in for a train ride on the GoldenPass rack railway after an ascent of about an hour through green fields, alpine forests and typical villages. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-54759\" src=\"https:\/\/lionel-meylan.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/train-rochers-de-naye-1024x685..jpg\" alt=\"train-rochers-de-naye\" width=\"1024\" height=\"685\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">8.55am<\/div>\n<h3><strong>A breathtaking view<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Peaking at 2042m, the Rochers-de-Naye leaves one speechless. Or nearly. You can just about manage to make a noise: WOW! The view is incredible. Lake L\u00e9man unfolds before your eyes, along with the Vaudois, Valaisan, Bernese and French Alps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-54760\" src=\"https:\/\/lionel-meylan.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/rochers-de-naye-sommet-1024x508..jpg\" alt=\"Rochers-de-Naye-sommet\" width=\"1024\" height=\"508\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">9.35am<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Gearing up for the mountains<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You\u2019re planning a hike. A plethora of route options start from the Rochers-de-Naye, allowing you to enjoy the benefit of the surrounding countryside. There is something for everyone and every level, families and keen walkers alike. For those with more experience, we strongly recommend the Tour des Rochers-de-Naye, featuring a approximately two and a half hour route and offering an unbeatable view over the Lake L\u00e9man basin and the Alps. Before finishing the loop, you\u2019ll have a choice between a route through the caves \u2013 in which case please note a torch is a must \u2013 or a steep outside path if you prefer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">12.30pm<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Lunch time<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Despite leaving you speechless, the Rochers-de-Naye panorama won\u2019t have taken away your appetite. It\u2019s time for a lunch at a panoramic restaurant or self-service outlet to taste delicious regional specialities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">2.30pm<\/div>\n<h3><strong>The most charming of all rodents<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Much loved by young and old alike, Marmots\u2019 Paradise offers both a permanent exhibition as well as a park that accommodates several species of marmot. Some are quite happy to have the visitors enjoying free access to the park come closer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-54761\" src=\"https:\/\/lionel-meylan.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/marmottes-06-1024x768..jpg\" alt=\"Marmottes-06\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">4pm<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Edelweiss on the horizon!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re a fan of botany or quite simply intrigued to discover the treasures of alpine flora, don\u2019t even think about getting back in the train without having visited the Rambertia. Inaugurated in 1896, this alpine garden nestled between two rocky ridges brings together and protects more than a thousand species of plants and mountain flowers. From mid-June to mid-October, they are there to be discovered by visiting nature-lovers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-54762\" src=\"https:\/\/lionel-meylan.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/rambertia-01-1024x731..jpg\" alt=\"Rambertia-01\" width=\"1024\" height=\"731\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"h1\">6pm<\/div>\n<h3><strong>An original way to spend the night<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Just when the last visitors start boarding the GoldenPass train to Montreux, you will be enjoying the peace and calm of the mountains. Tonight, you\u2019ll be dreaming of the unique magic of the Rochers-de-Naye under the roof of a Mongolian yurt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contact-details\"><strong class=\"small\">And if you happen to be passing through here in July\u2026 \u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">come up on foot and as you stand along the path, make sure you encourage the brave runners in the 34th edition of the Montreux-Les Rochers-de-Naye mountain race.
