The Navitimer Cosmonaute was born on May 24, 1962, when astronaut Scott Carpenter orbited Earth three times as part of NASA\u2019s Mercury-Atlas 7 mission. On his wrist was a one-of-a-kind Breitling Navitimer, custom-built for space with a 24-hour dial. Carpenter had known the pilot\u2019s chronograph from his days of flight training and trusted the functionality of its computational slide rule. With that flight, the Cosmonaute became the first Swiss wristwatch in space.
The limited-edition Navitimer Cosmonaute Artemis II pays tribute to that historic mission while looking toward the future of space exploration coming off of its namesake mission Artemis II. Produced in just 450 pieces, it houses the hand-wound Breitling Manufacture Caliber B02 and features a galaxy-blue meteorite dial, cut from an extraterrestrial stone. Composed primarily of iron and nickel, the meteorite reveals its natural crisscrossing Widmanst\u00e4tten pattern when etched, ensuring no two dials are alike.
