Watchmaking has been part of Yannick’s world since childhood. The eldest son of Lionel Meylan, he spent much of his early years watching his father restore antique clocks, fascinated by mechanics, craftsmanship and precision. This passion naturally led him to train in precision mechanics at the École des Métiers, before completing his education with studies in business and management.
Today, Yannick runs Lionel Meylan alongside his brother Julien, carrying forward a family tradition that has been passed down through six generations. He divides his time between the Lausanne and Vevey boutiques, where what he enjoys most is being close to clients, exchanging ideas with them and personally accompanying them in their choices and projects.
While watchmaking remains deeply rooted in his story, Yannick has also developed a genuine passion for coloured gemstones and jewellery creation. Sapphires, spinels, rubies, emeralds and more unusual gems: he loves discovering stones with a distinctive colour, brilliance or character, and then working with the Maison’s gemmologists and jewellers to imagine a piece that will truly reveal their beauty.
This is also what he values most about his profession: starting with a meeting, a story, or sometimes simply a remarkable stone, and bringing a unique creation to life. Transforming a family heirloom, sourcing a particular gemstone, imagining an engagement ring or creating an entirely bespoke piece are all projects in which he particularly enjoys being personally involved.
An adventurer at heart, Yannick also has a longstanding passion for aviation and flying over the Alps. Yet behind the entrepreneur and lover of fine mechanics is above all a man deeply attached to his family and to genuine human relationships. Father of two boys, he is preparing to welcome a third child in January 2027, opening a new chapter in a family story that means a great deal to him.
