Nestled in the little streets of the pretty town of Vevey, on the Vaud Riviera, Lionel Meylan’s two boutiques showcase the biggest names in watchmaking and jewellery. From the beginning of December, the colour green will take centre stage at the magnificent venue located at 34, Rue des Deux-Marchés, where fans of fine watches can now find the latest models in the Rolex and Tudor collections.
This dedicated display pays tribute to the work of Lionel Meylan spanning over nearly 25 years. It also recognises the company’s customer-oriented philosophy, focused on the constant pursuit of excellence and perfection and driven by a real passion for watchmaking. Julien Meylan, Director of Lionel Meylan Vevey SA, explains “we are very proud to have been chosen by Rolex. It means that we are heading in the right direction, and that’s an extremely positive sign in the current economic climate. It’s a confidence boost for our whole team which encourages us to stay true to who we are: watchmakers first, retailers second.”
Lionel Meylan is not like other retailers. Trained as a watchmaker, his craft passed from father to son down 6 generations, Lionel Meylan came from the Vallée de Joux, the home of the Swiss watchmaking art. Established in Vevey on 1st August 1990, he passed on his passion for watchmaking and watch mechanisms to his two sons, Julien and Yannick, who, after a course of watchmaking training, now work alongside him and run the two boutiques in Vevey. Yannick is also the Manager of the company’s 3rdoutlet, which opened its doors for the first time last May and whose location on Glacier 3000 makes it the highest watch boutique in French-speaking Switzerland.
Their tenets are sharing, passing on and respect. Sharing their passion and their knowledge, first and foremost, from which their customers benefit daily. Next, passing on tradition, which plays an implicit part in their world, a world governed by a clever blend of traditional watchmaking and modernity. Finally, respect for their customers and fine watchmaking, with full transparency. The entry of the successful brand into this domain in which the customer is king marks a fitting end to the year for Lionel Meylan.
