Launched in 1984, at a time when extra-flat quartz timepieces were the order of the day, Breitling took a risky gamble with an impressively large mechanical watch. Based on the Frecce Tricolori chronograph, developed and launched in 1983 in collaboration with the famous Italian acrobatic patrol, the Chronomat celebrated Breitling's centenary in style, and returned the mechanical chronograph to its rightful place. Indeed, the brand has built its worldwide reputation on these absolutely sublime watches. Available in a wide range of materials, including stainless steel and 18-carat red gold, the Chronomat is equipped with a 42 mm case and an emblematic 4-pronged bezel. Available in a range of black, blue, silver and bronze dials, the Chronomat is offered with a roller strap. It is powered by Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, a COSC-certified chronometer.
