Effortless sport

What better way to start the day than by combining culture and sport? Head for Lausanne for a visit to the Olympic Museum. Make sure you’re there when the museum opens (except on Mondays, when it closes), as there’s plenty to see and do. To save time, tickets can be purchased online. With over 1,500 objects and 150 screens, the permanent exhibition covers 3,000 square metres and three levels: level 1, “The Olympic World”, its history since Antiquity; level 0, “The Olympic Games”, the evolution of competitions since their return in 1896; level 3, “The Olympic Spirit”, based on excellence, friendship and respect. Audio guides are available in nine languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish). Until March 5, 2023, don’t miss the temporary exhibition, “Riding the Olympic Wave”, which presents six disciplines newly included in the Summer Olympic Games program: 3×3 basketball, BMX freestyle, breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing.

Artistic break

On leaving the museum, it’s worth stopping off in the 8,000-square-meter park, dotted with 43 sculptures, including works by Niki de Saint-Phalle, Botero, Tàpies and Calder. Visitors can also try their hand at a variety of disciplines on the sports facilities lining the museum, including an athletics track where everyone can let off steam and pretend they’re Usain Bolt. All with a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and the Alps!

Live cooking

Feeling peckish? Go back the way you came and reach the Château d’Ouchy, near the Beau-Rivage Palace, in just a few minutes. At 57° Grill (closed on Sundays and Mondays), the chef offers live-cooking. Meat, fish and shellfish are grilled in front of the guests. If you’d like your poultry roasted on a spit for 40 minutes to 1 hour, let us know when you make your reservation: it will be served “just in time”!

Fresh air, concentration, precision

It’s time to get some height. Head for the Golf de Lavaux, in the commune of Puidoux, some 15 km from Lausanne: here you are at the start of an exceptional 18-hole course. The Lavaux golf course is located at the top of the Unesco World Heritage vineyards. Designed in 1999 by renowned architect Peter Harradine, the course is perfectly set in verdant surroundings, with views of Lac de Bret and the Diablerets mountain range. With its many slopes and varied course, it is ideal for golfers of all levels.
