CRAZY MOOSE – A cabin in the mountains

To reach this imposing stone building nestled at an altitude of 1,750 metres on the slopes of Villars-sur-Ollon, you’ll have to leave your car behind and opt for walking, taking the train, cycling (in spring) or skiing. It’s a little effort that’s well worth the detour, not only to admire the magnificent panorama, but also for a drink, a bite to eat or an overnight stay. In this former military mountain house built in 1932 by General Guisan, the team in place since 2013 has preserved the hut spirit. On the sleeping side, the double rooms, dormitories and private apartment offer simple comfort and warm decor. As for the restaurant, it’s all about gourmet pleasures, with a cuisine that favors fresh local produce, meat specialties and cheeses. Special mention must be made of the refined desserts concocted by the pastry chef, which are just as enjoyable as the incomparable view of Mont Blanc and the Dents du Midi.
