But not just any old way. In the ideal of the association’s founder, teaching would take place on a sailboat school that could accommodate classes of children for several days at a time. By dint of perseverance and patience, La Demoiselle, a faithful replica of a large 1828 lake boat, was born. Construction began in Vevey in July 1997 and was completed in 2009.

Since then, La Demoiselle has been taking on board groups of children and young people, who come to learn about maneuvers, life as a crew and the rudiments of navigation, under the guidance of boatmen-trainers. The superb traditional boat also welcomes groups of adults, families and companies for an original team-building experience, weddings or anniversaries. Embarkation is from Villeneuve.
