LÄDERACH – The chocolate maker who melts the whole world
The passion for chocolate has its reasons that reason ignores. A statement that gourmands won’t deny. For Glarus-based chocolatier Läderach, it’s a different story. Founded in 1962 by Rudolf Läderach Junior, this family-run company has enjoyed growing success over the last five decades, thanks to its craftsmanship and innovative philosophy. The invention of its hollow chocolate balls, designed to improve truffle quality and facilitate the manufacturing process, laid the foundation stone for Läderach’s success. Since then, the family business has gone from strength to strength, remaining true to its principles of independence, family culture and excellence. To the delight of chocolate lovers.

From bean to chocolate
Since opening a state-of-the-art production facility in the small community of Bilten in 2012, Läderach has mastered the entire chocolate production chain, from cocoa bean to chocolate mass to finished product. The dried cocoa beans that Läderach receives at the chocolate factory are first examined and inspected before being cleaned, crushed and roasted. This is followed by the preparation of the chocolate mass that chocolatiers and confectioners will use as the basis for creating a complete assortment of chocolate treats.

The Chocolate family
Jürg Läderach, owner and Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, emphasizes: “Since 2012, we have been able to guarantee maximum quality and control the entire value chain. The result is direct contact with cocoa suppliers and growers, who have naturally also become members of our family.” The pleasure of tasting exceptional chocolate is enhanced by the knowledge that it has been produced with respect for people and the environment. Läderach is committed to sustainable development. In Ghana and Central America, where most of its chocolate beans come from, the Swiss company takes concrete action to protect the environment and promote social equity. Läderach’s Chocolate family is a culture, a tradition, ongoing support for the families of cocoa farmers and, of course, an infinite delight for the taste buds.
