Les Rochers-De-Naye – A day at the summit of possibilities

Be careful at the start!

Comfortably ensconced in your armchair, you’re about to embark on an experience that’s as breathtaking as it is original. To get to the roof of Lake Geneva, you won’t be taking the road, but the rail. The only way to get to the Rochers-de-Naye is to take the GoldenPass cogwheel train, which climbs for around an hour through lush green fields, alpine forests and typical villages.

A breathtaking view

Culminating at an altitude of 2042 m, the Rochers-de-Naye leave you speechless. Almost. You still manage to utter one sound: WAOUH! The view is breathtaking. Lake Geneva, the Vaud and Valais Alps, the Bernese and French Alps unfold before your eyes…

Mountain climbing

You’re about to embark on a hike. From the Rochers-de-Naye, a multitude of itineraries allow you to enjoy the surrounding scenery. There’s something for every taste, every level, for families and good walkers. For the more experienced, we can’t recommend enough the Rochers-de-Naye tour, which takes around 2.5 hours and offers breathtaking views of the Lake Geneva basin and the Alps. Before completing the loop, you can opt for a passage through the caves – caution, flashlight essential – or prefer a steep outside path.

Lunch break

The panoramic view from Rochers-de-Naye may leave you speechless, but it won’t spoil your appetite. Take a lunch break at the panoramic restaurant or self-service restaurant to sample some delicious local dishes.

Such charming rodents

Popular with young and old alike, Marmottes Paradis offers both a permanent exhibition and a park home to several species of marmot. Some of these marmots are more than happy to let visitors get up close and personal, with free admission to the park.

Edelweiss in sight!

If you’re a botany enthusiast or simply curious to discover the treasures of Alpine flora, you can’t get back on the train without first visiting the Rambertia. Inaugurated in 1896, this alpine garden nestled between two rocky ridges gathers and protects over a thousand species of high-altitude plants and flowers. From mid-June to mid-October, it is open free of charge to nature-loving visitors.

Unusual night

As the last visitors begin to board the GoldenPass train to Montreux, you can savor the tranquility of the mountains. Tonight, under the roof of a Mongolian yurt, you’ll dream of the unique magic of Rochers-de-Naye.

And if you’re passing through in July… Walk up the hill and cheer on the deserving runners of the 34th Montreux-Les Rochers-de-Naye mountain race. They’ll need all the support they can get to complete the 18.8 km and 1,600 m ascent from start to finish.
