Without really knowing why, it makes all the difference. The detail, the little thing that changes everything. A pretty bouquet of flowers, a kind smile, a trinket or a painting… At L’Hostellerie de Genève, attention to detail is expressed at every turn.

Knowing how to receive is a golden rule here, the keystone of an art of living instilled by the mistress of the premises, Anne-Christine Meylan. First of all, there’s the warm, friendly and always attentive welcome. Then there’s the decor, original and surprising. At L’Hostellerie, our guests travel while awake, inside,” confides Anne-Christine Meylan. They move from one world to another, from one atmosphere to another, simply by opening or closing doors.”

Behind every door, the decor of the 23 themed rooms is an invitation to travel. Lovers of literature will inevitably think back to Julien Sorel’s bourgeois love affairs in the Rouge et Noire suite, inspired by the title of Stendhal’s novel.

In the Blue Agadir Moroccan room, adorned in shades of azure and gray, or in the predominantly red Marrakech suite, which combines wrought iron and white stone, the inspiration refers to the magic of the Moroccan riads where Anne-Christine and Lionel Meylan have stayed. The furniture was custom-made in Morocco by talented craftsmen.

Another theme, another destination: romantic Venice. To design the Venetian suite, Anne-Christine Meylan travelled to the City of the Doges to have lamps made to measure, choose masks and engravings, as well as a gondola front, which she has since hung in a corner of the room.

Jam “Why not offer our guests good products, made with love. It’s fun for me, and I’m glad our guests can enjoy jams that taste just like fruit. In the early days, my husband and I used to make jam in the evening after work. It could be around 10pm… We’d have a great time.”

Maison “When a customer says to me, ‘You make us feel so at home’, it’s a wonderful gift. We receive people from all over the world, from all over the world, and they come back regularly. A relationship is formed, and it’s always a real pleasure to welcome them back to our home.”

Decoration “Our customers are delighted. Imagine all those people who regularly visit hotels where all the rooms look the same. With us, everything is different.
