SPEEDMASTER “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” APOLLO 8: DOUBLE FACE

“We’ll see you on the other side”, promises Jim Lovell at NASA’s command center. On his wrist, a Speedmaster beat out a rhythm that was certainly more regular than his heart’s when he discovered the far side of the Moon. Omega celebrates the 50th anniversary of this thrilling epic with this Speedmaster model in black ceramic, which reveals all the facets of the Earth’s satellite. The skeletonized dial reveals a blackened movement whose components have been laser-cut to reproduce an ultra-realistic image of the lunar surface as seen from Earth. On the back, the caliber 1869 reveals the far side of the Moon, accompanied by Jim Lovell’s famous phrase. A fragment of history to help us dream, again and again, of the fabulous adventure of the conquest of space.

The chronograph hands are varnished yellow, while the tachymeter scale and crown are adorned with Super-LumiNova.


The famous 1861 chronograph movement worn on the Moon has been specially blackened and decorated for this watch. Its new baptismal name: Omega Calibre 1869.



On both sides, the lunar surface is realistically reproduced on the movement’s laser-engraved components.
