Perfect weather, calm on the lake and in the sky, ideal conditions. You finish packing the things you’ll need for the next two days. The most important item in your travel bag: a swimsuit! Of course, you’ll also want to pack a terry towel, sunglasses and sunscreen. Last but not least: a good pair of walking shoes.

Leaving the mainland

Before leaving Lavaux for Valais, the adventure begins with a short detour to the port of Lutry, where you can rent a MasterCraft boat from Offaxis. Considered the Rolls Royce of water sports boats, it can accommodate 10 people on board. Ideal for a wakeboarding or wakesurfing session on the impressive wave that breaks in its wake. A must for sports enthusiasts… but also for those who simply want to explore the shores of the great lake or take a dip in the open sea.

Recovered from your first emotions? That’s only the beginning! Head to the Café Suisse in Bex for a well-deserved gastronomic break. Thirtysomething chef Marie Robert is at the helm of the kitchen, leading the way with a wild inventiveness that has earned her the title of “Chef of the Year” 2019 from GaultMillau, and a prestigious 16/20 rating in the process. The escapade continues at the crossroads of the Val d’Hérens and the Val d’Hérémence. In the heart of this hiking paradise, you’ll stop off at the Combioula hot springs, which emerge on the banks of the Borgne, the watercourse that runs through the Val d’Hérens. The water emerges at a temperature of 26°C. Enough to delight even the coldest of walkers, who are more than happy to relax their feet. Although Combioula can be reached by car, the most pleasant way is still to walk. From the Ermitage de Longeborgne in Bramois, it’s a 4-hour round trip along the Borgne. For a shorter itinerary, you can set off from the Ossona plateau, where a little refreshment awaits you at the edge of the bisse intake, amidst free-roaming goats.

Gourmet evening in Sierre

Have you worked up an appetite? On the menu for your evening is a festival of flavors at l’Atelier Gourmand, opened in 2020 by Didier de Courten. At this gastronomic address with a chic brasserie feel, the famous Valais chef displays his talent through a gourmet menu featuring local and seasonal produce. Afterwards, you’ll head up a few flights of stairs to rest in one of the rooms of his four-star hotel, the aptly-named Terminus, the last stop on a busy day.
