The Fête des Vignerons, a celebration of the passing on of knowledge and of mankind’s ties with nature, is set to set the heart of Vevey abuzz with festivities in honor of winegrowing culture and winegrower-cultivators.

Listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO since December 1, 2016, the festival only takes place four times a century. This 12th edition is eagerly awaited. Metamorphosed into a titanic 20,000-seat arena, the Place du Marché will host a grandiose show from July 18 to August 11, performed by some 5,500 costumed actors and extras, recounting a year in the life of the vine through some twenty tableaux. The festival will also take place outside the arena walls.

To the rhythm of music, joyful processions, artistic performances, theater, dance, cellars and ephemeral restaurants, the Fête des Vignerons promises to be a unique and convivial experience for all ages. Because beneath its folkloric exterior, it remains above all a celebration of memory, a living heritage that is passed down from generation to generation with the same force as in the past.
